 ANDY'S ANSWER: Many women report a lighter and shorter period when they add moderate exercise to their routine. Also drinking plenty of water is recommended to make sure you are properly hydrated as well as avoiding salt. 

Doing these things also may have the added bonus of making your menstrual cycle less uncomfortable as a whole.
